Wanda Jane Juhl, the daughter of Clifton and Vera Mae (Keyt) Krueger, was born on January 27, 1937, in Auburn, Nebraska. She spent her early childhood years in Auburn; the family later moved to Commerce City, Colorado, where she continued her education. She was the mother of four children by a previous marriage, and raising her children and working various jobs kept her busy.
On July 18, 1969, Wanda married Lowell LaVerne Juhl in Aurora, Colorado. The couple lived in Colorado until 2004, when they moved to Harlan, Iowa.
Wanda was a member of Christ’s Church in Harlan, Iowa. She was a loving mother and wife, and caring for her family was of great importance to her. She lovingly took care of her daughter, Arlene. Wanda enjoyed watching General Hospital and Dancing with the Stars.
Wanda J. Juhl died on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Methodist Jennie Edmondson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of 76 years, 2 months, and 15 days.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Ricky Doyle. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Lowell Juhl of Harlan, Iowa; two sons, Rodney Doyle of Stafford, Kansas, and Richard (Barbara) Doyle of Commerce City, Colorado; one daughter, Arlene Doyle of Harlan, Iowa; two step-sons, David (Kristine) Juhl of Anacortes, Washington, and Jeff Juhl of Irwin, Iowa; one sister, Eleanor (Ray) Thompson of Council Bluffs, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at the Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa, with Pastor Brian Taylor of Christ’s Church, Harlan, Iowa, officiating. Donna Sorensen served as the organist. Memorials may be made to Multiple Sclerosis research. The Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa, was in charge of the arrangements.
