Sally Marie Jorgensen was born on February 27, 1943 in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Donald and Rosemary (Lynch) Morris. She was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church. She attended numerous country schools in Michigan where she received her education.
She was united in marriage to Robert Lee Hasting Sr in Michigan. From this union, they were blessed with four children: Tami, Sheryl, Robert, and Debra. Later in life, Sally married Steve Jorgensen in Redline, Iowa and they shared many wonderful years together.
Sally was a true testament to the power of self-teaching. Her unwavering patience, strong-willed nature and caring spirit guided her as she raised her children. Family was the cornerstone of Sally’s life, and her love extended beyond measure. Her grandchildren possessed a special place in her heart, and she took immense joy in watching them grow and thrive. Whether it was cheering them on at their sporting events or showering them with affection and support, Sally’s presence was a constant source of encouragement and inspiration.
Apart from her role as a dedicated mother and grandmother, Sally had many passions that enriched her life. In her younger years, she spent countless hours crocheting where she crafted beautiful pieces that served as cherished gifts for her loved ones. She found solace in horse riding and she excelled in many competitions. She enjoyed playing Bingo, working on puzzles, and occasionally going to the casino. She had a love for flowers and it was evident by how well her yard looked over the years. Sally also had a natural affinity for animals, a true “dog whisperer,” which she affectionately raised and treated as members of her own family
Sally passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at the Accura Healthcare of Manning, attaining the age of 80 years, 7 months, and 15 days. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Rosemary Morris; two daughters: Tami Gravert and Sheryl Kinnaman; granddaughter, Baby Sally Hastings; two brothers: Larry Morris and Gary Morris; and brother-in-law, Johnny Hills. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Robert Hastings of Irwin and Debra (Dennis) Ransom of Irwin; sons-in-law: Keith Gravert of Dolliver, Iowa and Mark (Eva) Kinnaman of Council Bluffs; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Kathryn Hills of Mason, Michigan and Beth Samkowiak of Owosso, Michigan; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
