Orlin Lee Dinesen, the son of John and Lena Annena (Olesen) Dinesen, was born on February 4, 1920, in rural Avoca, Iowa. For most of his life, Orlin was a resident of various state and county facilities. In recent years, he lived at the Country Care Center in Harlan, Iowa, where he received excellent care. He had only recently been transferred to the Westmont Care Center in Logan, Iowa.
Orlin was a happy and cheerful individual who treasured greeting cards. Lately, he had begun to carry a comb at all times. Orlin also enjoyed looking at magazine pictures.
Orlin L. Dinesen died on Monday, October 2, 2006, at the Westmont Care Center in Logan, Iowa, at the age of 86 years, 7 months, and 29 days.
Orlin was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 7, 2006, at the Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa, with Pam Clyde from the Country Care Center conducting the service. Serving as casket bearers were Melvin Dinesen, Jason Dinesen, Peggy Hess, Lavon Christensen, Susan Lambert, and Melissa Dinesen Melicher. Burial was in the Harlan Cemetery in Harlan, Iowa. The Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home in Harlan was in charge of the arrangements.
