Norma Jane Gosch, the daughter of Glenn Edward and Luella Marie (Matthiesen) Gosch, was born on February 18, 1951, in Denison, Iowa. She attended school in Iowa and Illinois, as well as Missouri, where she graduated. Due to a disability, Norma lived with her parents most of her life. She then lived at REM Leadway in Shelby, Iowa, for several years before becoming a resident of the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn, Iowa.
Norma was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan, Iowa. She liked to read and had a keen mind for facts. She especially enjoyed following politics.
Norma J. Gosch died on Saturday, November 3, 2012, at the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn, Iowa, having reached the age of 61 years, 8 months, and 16 days.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Diane Robertson; and one niece Jillian. She is survived by four sisters, Judy (Joseph) Webster of Carson City, Nevada, Carolyn (Duane) Arterburn of Ayr, Nebraska, Phyllis (James) St. Germain of San Jose, California, and Doris Smith of Campbell, California; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at the Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa, with Pastor Steve Chellew of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Harlan, Iowa, officiating. Marge Ahrenholtz was the organist. Norma’s family and friends served as casket bearers. The Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa, was in charge of the arrangements.
