On November 4, 1944, at the Church of Christ in Atchison, Kansas, Lillian married LaVerne Lowell Juhl. The couple farmed in Shelby County and Audubon County, Iowa. Lillian and LaVerne retired from active farming in 1978 due to LaVerne’s poor health. Following LaVerne’s death on January 1, 2001, Lillian remained in their home in Irwin, Iowa, where they had lived since 1976. In June 2011, she moved from her home to the Elm Crest Retirement Community.
Lillian was a longtime member of the Irwin Church of Christ and also enjoyed being a part of the Pleasant Valley neighborhood club. She liked to spend time sewing, gardening, canning, and tending her flowers. When her children were young, she served as a 4-H leader.
