Joyce Elaine Fah was born on September 28, 1937, to Earl and Inez Clinton (White) in Creston, Iowa. Joyce received her education from Creston High School, graduating in 1955. Joyce moved to Omaha and worked as a telephone operator.
On December 21, 1956, Joyce married Joseph Fah in Omaha, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Harlan, IA. They were blessed with three children: James, Jane, and Jeff. She was a homemaker and later worked in housekeeping at Baptist Memorial Nursing Home and continued at Elm Crest Senior Living Community.
Joyce has always been a member of a nondenominational Christian church, including a founding member of Christ’s Church in Harlan. She was an active member of her church and served in many leadership roles. Joyce enjoyed watching sports, specifically football and cheering on the Chicago White Sox. She was an active member of Shelby County Historical Society and served a term as president. Above all, she cherished making memories with her family.
Joyce passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Elm Crest Senior Living Community in Harlan, Iowa, at the age of 87 years, three months, and 17 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe in 2002.
Joyce is survived by her children: James (Amy) Fah of Elkhorn, Nebraska, Jeff (Susie) Fah of Earling, Iowa and Jane (John) Wehr of Olathe, Kansas; 9 grandchildren: Jocelyn (Dan), Olathe KS; Janelle (Michael), Olathe, KS; Mason (Annie), Elkhorn, NE; Taylor (Monte), Ankeny IA; Patrick (Lauren), Earling, IA; Thomas, Groton, CT; Joseph, Stephen, Catherine, Earling IA; 4 great-grandchildren: Nova, Wendy, Luna, and Archie; Brother Ron White of Santa Rosa, CA.
A private graveside service will be held with her family at the Harlan Cemetery.
