John Lynn Andersen was born on June 1, 1960, in Harlan, Iowa, to Lynn and Mary Lou (Reeves) Andersen. He grew up in Jacksonville and graduated from Harlan Community High School with the Class of 1979. John joined the United States Army in 1980 and was medically discharged later that year.
After high school, John spent some time landscaping, but primarily worked alongside his grandpa, Roy Andersen, on the family farm. Over the years, he drove trucks for K’s Customs, Earling Grain & Feed, and most notably, for G & G, where he worked the longest. Following his grandpa Roy’s passing in 2000, John moved to Earling.
In his younger years, John enjoyed fishing trips to Minnesota with his grandpa. He also loved playing card games—especially Canasta—with family, as well as hunting. John proudly served with the Earling Fire Department for over 13 years.
For about a year, John traveled to Hoskins, Nebraska, every weekend to spend time with Beverly Bouslaugh. Eventually, Beverly moved to the Harlan area to be closer to John. They have been together for over 10 years and were married on August 15, 2024.
John passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Elm Crest Retirement Community having attained the age of 64 years, nine months and 29 days. He was preceded in death by his father, Lynn Andersen and brother-in-law, John Watts.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Andersen of Earling; daughters, Crystal (Tony) Domann of Independence, Missouri and Jonna (Cody) Lamberson of Logan, Iowa; sons, Michael (Jennifer) Andersen of Liberty, Missouri and Zachary Andersen of Denison, Iowa; step-son, Chris (Shelly) Bouslaugh of Earling; nine grandchildren: Karleigh, Kenzie, Jenna, Dayton, Cody, Jessica, Henry, Charlee, and Gloria; his mother, Mary Lou Andersen of Jacksonville; sister, Nancy Watts and nephew, Andrew Watts, both of Harlan; many other relatives and friends.
