Jane Marie Green, daughter of Clarence Henry and Goldie Marie (Thoms) Krohn, was born on May 11, 1947, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She attended Shelby-Tennent (Iowa) High School and graduated with the Class of 1966. Jane then worked at the Shelby County State Bank. On March 2, 1978, Jane married Bert Green in Reno, Nevada. After their marriage, the couple drove over-the-road truck for six years and saw much of the United States. They lived in Chowchilla and Fresno, California, where Jane enjoyed her orange trees. The couple later divorced, and Jane returned to the Avoca and Shelby, Iowa, area. Most recently, Jane had been a resident of Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs.
Jane was a former member of the Shelby United Methodist Church in Shelby, Iowa. She was also a member of the American Legion Post #240 Auxiliary. Jane enjoyed playing Bingo and loved animals, especially her pet dog, Samantha. Spending time with family was special to her, and she was very fond of her great-nieces and great-nephews.
Jane M. Green died on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs, Iowa, having reached the age of 67 years, 3 months, and 29 days.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lindy Krohn; and one half-brother, Duane Krohn. She is survived by one sister, Sally Casey of Omaha, Nebraska; one half-brother, Larry (Coralyss) Krohn of Persia, Iowa; her uncle and aunt, Robert and Catherine Thoms of Shelby, Iowa; two nephews, Jeff (Amy) Casey of Treynor, Iowa, and Dan (Sarah) Casey of Omaha, Nebraska; five great-nieces and great-nephews, Jagger, Ben, Brock, Sophie, and Stella; and other relatives and friends.
The memorial service was held on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at the Shelby United Methodist Church in Shelby, Iowa, with Pastor Orris Drake officiating. Shirley Pattee was the organist and Bonnie Peters served as soloist. Urn bearers were Jeff Casey and Dan Casey. Burial was in the Shelby Cemetery, Shelby, Iowa.
