James “Jim” Lewis Hytrek Jr. was born on May 28, 1960, the son of James Lewis Sr. and Sharon Marie (Peterson) Hytrek.
Jim spent his life working as an auto body repairman, a career that allowed him to channel his deep love for muscle cars, especially enjoying the restoration process. He had a special place in his heart for a good tune on his favorite local radio station, 105.9 and could often be found immersed in true crime documentaries. A man of simple pleasures, Jim cherished his blacked-out coffee, no matter the hour, pints of Dairy Queen ice cream, and meals cooked just a little on the burnt side. A true animal lover, his faithful companion, Ziggy, was never far from his side. Above all, Jim's love for his children and grandchildren was unconditional. He would do anything to provide for them and always put their needs first. His family will especially miss his quick wit and infectious sense of humor, often leaving them with his iconic phrase, "I’ll be in my office if anyone needs me." Jim's love and laughter will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Jim passed away at his home on Sunday, December 8, 2024, after a long battle with health issues at the age of 64 years 6 months 11 days.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Hytrek. He is survived by his six children: Jason (Brittnee) Hytrek of Logan, Kandie (Tom) Hopp of Harlan, Cheree (Jeremy) Ritter of Tekamah, Nebraska, Jeffrey Hytrek (fiancée, Anna) of Omaha, Nebraska, Shanae (Seth) McCutcheon of Harlan and Zane (Madi) Hytrek of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren: Anthony, Austin, Vivian, Nevaeh, Serenity, Liberty, Asher, Declan, Avarissa, Amarah, Draxton, James, Hudson, Wrangler, Victorianna, Dayton and Luka; father, James Hytrek Sr.; four sisters; two brothers; his beloved dog, Ziggy; and other family and friends.
Jim’s wishes were to be cremated and no services will be held.
