George Tietz

George Henry Tietz age 63 passed away April 1, 2024 at the Avoca Specialty Care Facility, Avoca, Iowa.

He was born January 21, 1961, the son of William and Eleanor (Kehret) Tietz in Waverly, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Nashua, Iowa. He received his education from Nashua Community School and graduated with the class of 1979. He graduated from Upper Iowa College with a degree in education. After graduation George became a teacher and coach with Avoca High School for many years.

George enjoyed fishing with his brother Jerry and friends in Canada and hunting whenever he could.

George was an organ donor and his family honored his wishes with donations for others.

George was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother, Jerry (Carrie) Tietz of Nashua; brother, Chris Tietz of Charles City; niece, Haley (Eric) Crawford and family of Wake Forest, North Carolina and nephew, Benjamin (Erica) Tietz and family; and other relatives and friends.

George has been cremated and there will be a private burial with family at a later date.
