Several Cousins

Gary L. Malick, 65, Overland Park, Kansas, died December 4, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri, after a short illness. Gary was born July 6, 1947, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, son of Gerald and Elvina (Rasmussen) Malick. The family later moved to Denison where he graduated from Denison Community High School. He graduated from Drake University in 1970 with a degree in pharmacy. After graduation he returned to Denison and worked as a pharmacist for a couple of years then returned to Des Moines and worked as a pharmacist in the Des Moines area. He later accepted a position with Eli Lilly and Company and moved to Kansas City, Missouri, as a pharmaceutical representative where he worked until his retirement.

Gary is survived by his daughter Tara Coffman and grandson Gabriel L. Coffman of Linwood, Kansas, and his sister Connie Malick and brother Ron Malick of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Justin Kaufmann.

Gary was a kind and generous person and will be missed by all that knew him.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at the Harlan Cemetery in Harlan, Iowa, with Pastor Darwin Moore of the First United Methodist Church in Harlan, Iowa, officiating. The Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa, was in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be left online at www.burmeisterjohannsen.com.
