Ellen Marie Jensen, the daughter of Earl and Nellie (Bird) Smith, was born on May 30, 1936, in Shelby County, Iowa. She attended school in Irwin, Iowa, and graduated from Irwin High School on May 26, 1953. After graduating from high school, Ellen worked at the Harlan Telephone Company office.
On December 19, 1954, Ellen married Robert Eugene Jensen in Avoca, Iowa.
Using the computer, Ellen enjoyed keeping in touch friends. She also liked to spend time sketching.
Ellen M. Jensen died on Monday, November 19, 2007, at Myrtue Memorial Center in Harlan, Iowa, having reached the age of 71 years, 5 months, and 20 days.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and one brother, who died at birth. She is survived by her husband, Robert Jensen of Tennant, Iowa; two sons, Randal Jensen of Tennant, Iowa, and Dennis (Clare Cloutier) Jensen of Seattle, Washington; two daughters, Janet Jensen of Springdale, Washington, and Jinea (Russell) Calaby of Windsor Heights, Iowa; six grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
The Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home in Harlan was in charge of the arrangements.
