Drew Christian Armentrout, the son of Don and Meredith (Crouch) Armentrout, was born on February 26th, 1972. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa and the family lived in Waukee, Iowa. Drew was born with acute asthma and allergies. He spent his first ten years in and out of the hospital with breathing problems. Drew’s life was not easy because he was never without physical problems. He went to school in Waukee, Elk Horn, Irwin and graduated from Boyer Valley High School in 1990.
In high school, he was on the air at KNOD and went to college in Fort Dodge taking broadcasting and was on the KOOL 92 radio station. Drew held management positions with MCSI, the Burger King Chain, and convenience stores. His first love was cooking and being a host. He loved playing baseball and collected sports cards, having full teams and full years of cards. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and playing video games.
Unbeknown to Drew, his son Jordan was born on October 20, 1998. Drew found out about Jordan a few years later. Jordan was only with Drew a short time. Because he was a ward of the state, he was taken away from him illegally. Then when Jordan was grown, he found his father and they reconnected. Jordan confirmed he has been illegally taken away.
On August 21, 2003, his daughter Rebecca was born. She was the apple of her father’s eye and has had him wrapped around her little finger from day one. Rebecca, like her father, would sometimes get in trouble. When scolded she would say, “Hey Dad, you raised me!” Drew’s response was “Yaw, but I raised you better” Drew spent a lot of time making sure that his children or any other children didn’t make his same mistakes.
Drew’s children have always been the joy of his life. Drew invited Christ into his heart when he was very young and had looked forward to meeting Christ in person ever since. He loved the scriptures and studied them. His life was not always as he would have liked it to be but he is now at Peace.
Drew went to be with Jesus on Thursday, May 9, 2024 having attained the age of 52 years. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Uncle John, Aunt Dorothy, Uncle Richard, and Uncle Ray. He is survived by his children: Jordan of Omaha, NE and Rebecca of Nevada, IA; parents, Don and wife Helen (second mom) of Audubon; and his mother, Meredith of Manning; besides other relatives and many good friends.
