Deborrah Ann “Deb” Gross, the daughter of Virgil Christopher and Bernadine Elsie (Petersen) Wiley, was born in Harlan, Iowa, on August 20, 1956. She was baptized at the Church of Christ in Irwin, Iowa. Deb grew up in rural Irwin and attended Irwin-Kirkman Community Schools. On December 15, 1973, Deb married Marvin Joseph Gross at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earling, Iowa. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Earling where they owned and operated the Earling Locker for seven years. Deb then completed training to become a dental assistant, and worked in that field for 30 years before retiring.
Deb was a member of Lifegate Church in Omaha, Nebraska. She truly treasured time spent with family and friends, and especially loved all her grandchildren. Deb enjoyed taking family vacations, driving her Mini Cooper, and riding motorcycles. She liked to spend time fishing, working in her flower garden, doing crafts, and going to garage sales.
Deb A. Gross died on Sunday, June 28, 2020, at her home in Earling, Iowa. She had reached the age of 63 years, 10 months, and 8 days.
Deb was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Steve Wiley. She is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Marvin Gross of Earling, Iowa; one son, Jason (Missy) Gross of Irwin, Iowa; one daughter, Jessica (Kyle) Staudt of Glenwood, Iowa; two sisters, Diana Weber and Nancy Wiley, both of Denison, Iowa; one brother, Gary (Mimi) Wiley of Omaha, Nebraska; five grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life service was held on Thursday, July 2, 2020, at Faith Family Church, Harlan, Iowa, with Mr. Russ Trierweiler officiating. The Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa, was in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be left online at www.burmeisterjohannsen.com.
