Dale Leroy Lambertsen, the son of Peter Nis and Annie Catherine (Rasmussen) Lambertsen, was born on February 18, 1924, in Walnut, Iowa. He graduated from Walnut High School in 1943, and entered the United States Army in September, 1943. Dale served as a supply sergeant for a medical unit and was stationed overseas in several theaters of operations. He proudly received Good Conduct, Purple Heart, and Bronze Arrowhead medals. Following his discharge from the Service, Dale worked as a produce manager for Abe Baker, Swanson’s, and HyVee, retiring in 1987.
A private person, Dale really enjoyed working on his old cars.
Dale L. Lambertsen died on Sunday, October 7, 2012, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa, at the age of 88 years, 7 months, and 19 days.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Orvis Lambertsen. He is survived by Conrad and Carol Lambertsen of Blanchard, Iowa, Cheryl and Terry Nelson of Surprise, Arizona, Beth Guerrier of Bellevue, Nebraska, and other nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Graveside services and burial were held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at the Layton Township Cemetery in Walnut, Iowa, with the American Legion Post #422 of Walnut, Iowa, presiding. Serving as casket bearers were Walt Olsen, Steve Orme, Terry Nelson, Aaron Stoltz, Mike Lambertsen, and Conrad Lambertsen.
