Clayton Leonard Harvey, Jr., the son of Clayton Leonard Harvey and Virginia Dionne, was born on November 27, 1946, in Superior, Nebraska. Following high school, Clayton entered the United States Army and served in Vietnam. After his military service was complete, he began doing roofing work for Weathercraft of Omaha, Nebraska. On September 7, 1979, Clayton married Rose Mary Timperley in Omaha, Nebraska. Due to an accident on the job, Clayton was left unable to work, and for the past 21 years, he was a resident of Victorian Acres in Altoona, Iowa.
Clayton enjoyed playing video games with his son. He was an avid Big Red fan who also enjoyed watching Oakland Raiders football games.
Clayton L. Harvey, Jr. died on Monday, July 21, 2014, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, having reached the age of 67 years, 7 months, and 24 days.
Clayton was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Rose Harvey of Omaha, Nebraska; one son, Clayton L. Harvey III of Omaha, Nebraska; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was held on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at the Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa, with Rev. Al Hazelton of the Harlan First Assembly of God officiating. Shirlee Pattee served as the organist and Diane Kastens was the soloist. Casket bearers were Clayton’s loving family. Burial was in the Harlan Cemetery, with the Helmer Reyelt American Post #150, Harlan, Iowa, conducting military rites.
