Other Relatives & Friends
Surrounded by love from her family, our beloved sister, aunt, cousin, and friend peacefully went to rest for eternity in the loving arms of her Heavenly Father at the age of 67 on September 24, 2014 in Overland Park, KS, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Arlene was born in Harlan, IA on October 2, 1946 to Roy and Lillian Christensen. She was the first of two siblings. She graduated from Harlan High School in 1965. Arlene attended dental school and became a dental hygienist in 1966.
Arlene devoted her life to caring for her parents until their passing. She attended church regularly until her illness.
Preceding Arlene in death were her parents. Survivors include her sister, Mary Jean (Kevin) Sowell of Kansas City, MO, a niece, Mary Ann (Victor H.) Pecina, and nephew Eric (Jennifer) South, both of Kansas City, four great nephews Lorenzo, Victor, David, and Jonathan, of Kansas City, cousins, and many other relatives and friends.
She was a beloved sister, aunt, and friend who will be remembered fondly in our hearts and memories. Arlene loved good food and socializing, enjoyed going to movies and plays with friends, and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room.
We would like to thank the wonderful, caring staff of Cross Roads Hospice and Overland Park Nursing Home and Rehab for their support and loving kindness given to Arlene. We would like to thank all the family and friends who assisted Arlene while she resided in Altoona, IA.
